Can you change something in yourself that is second nature?

second nature: an acquired habit or tendency in one's character that is so deeply ingrained as to appear automatic

Suppose you have a habit that is second nature. Can you really change it? and if so--how do you go about doing this? Can you change something in yourself that is second nature?
tenacity, if you really want to change something that is a ';habit'; as long as you constantly work at it, you can change your pattern of behavior. i believe that its 30 days that a habit can change, if you are consistent...Can you change something in yourself that is second nature?
Depends what the habit is.
Yes, you can really change it. You go about doing this by becoming completely aware of this aquired habit.. Any habit can be broken- instinct cannot.
yes you can and how depends on what it is for instance whenever my brother used to drink beer he fired up a cigarette as second nature or habit, both are the same, when the doctor told him if he keep on smoking because of his respiratory problem which was leading to bronchitis he quit cold turkey, it lasted for about 10 years before he was killed but not from cigs- it was from a motorcycle. so yes you can change but only if you want to...
the first step to changing it is believing you can, and you can.

i really need an example of what you want to change,

but rewiring your mind is hard and a long task, but it is, of course, accomplishable
