How much do you change yourself for others and ?

when you do it and why ? I do it when I am talking or dealing with superior such as elder person, my parents, my boss at work, or my Karate master. It is our culture (Japan) as well so we can all live in peace respecting each other. How about in the USA? or outside of Japan I suppose....? I am sure certain rules apply to anyplace in the world? How much do you change yourself for others and ?
~~When I was in my twenties, I think I did too. I always try to be whatever it felt like people expected of me.

Getting older changed that. I am who I am, and that is all that I am. People have to accept me, or move on. I treat everyone with respect, but I always remain true to myself.

This is in my opinion the happiest way to live. If you do not honestly present yourself, then you just aren't what people see you as. What is the point? Kind of like cheating on a test, it does not get you anywhere.~~How much do you change yourself for others and ?
You shouldn't change yourself to suit someone. You can definately show respect and defer to someone in authority, but doing things you don't want just to please people (as opposed to following instructions) is exhausting.
